Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 9, 2026
green glass is a wine recommendation app operated by Golden Egg Media LLC. We collect the minimum information needed to sign you in, understand your taste, and recommend wines from photos of wine lists you take. We do not sell your data. Wine list photos are processed and discarded — they are not stored on our servers. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Golden Egg Media LLC ("Golden Egg Media", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the green glass mobile app and related websites, including sipgreenglass.com (collectively, the "Service").
Questions, requests, or complaints about this policy or your data: green.glass@goldenegg.media.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in, we receive an email address (if you sign in with Google) or a phone number (if you sign in with a phone number), together with a unique identifier issued by our authentication provider. If you grant access during sign-in, we may also receive your display name and profile photo URL.
- Profile and taste preferences. Wine and food preferences, taste profile answers, dietary notes, budget, and similar information you choose to enter.
- Your wine activity. Wines you save, rate, add to your cellar, share with friends, or otherwise interact with inside the app.
- Communications. Anything you send us by email or in feedback forms.
Information we collect automatically
- Wine list photos (transient). When you scan a wine list, your photo is sent to our AI processing provider, transcribed into text, and used to generate a recommendation. The photo itself is not retained on our servers. Only the transcribed wine list text and the recommendations we produce from it are kept as part of your activity history.
- Push notification token. If you opt in to notifications, your device generates a push token, which we store so we can deliver notifications.
- Basic technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamp, user agent, request path) needed to operate the Service and protect it from abuse.
- Crash and diagnostic data. If the app crashes, the operating system may share diagnostic data with us through Apple or Google's standard developer reporting tools.
Information we do NOT collect
We do not collect precise location, contacts, microphone audio, biometrics, payment information, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising networks and we do not place advertising trackers in the app.
3. How we use your information
- To create your account, sign you in, and keep your session secure.
- To read wine lists from your photos, identify wines, and generate personalized recommendations based on your taste profile.
- To save and display your activity (cellar, history, friends) inside the app.
- To send push notifications you have opted in to.
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
- To develop, train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine-learning models that power and improve our wine recommendation features (see Section 6).
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to create your account and provide the recommendations and features you request.
- Consent — for camera access, photo library access, and push notifications, and where else we ask for it.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including model improvement (see Section 6), where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law, court orders, and lawful regulatory requests.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time by contacting us.
5. Categories of third parties we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Service, and only to the extent needed for them to perform their function. These include:
- Authentication and identity verification providers — receive your email or phone number, and an opaque user identifier, to sign you in and protect your account.
- AI / machine-learning inference providers — receive the photo of the wine list you submit, your taste preferences, and prompt context, in order to transcribe the list and generate a recommendation. They may also receive previously generated outputs and your feedback when we evaluate model quality.
- Cloud hosting and database providers — receive and store everything our servers store (your account record, profile, cellar, history, push token, transcribed wine list text, recommendation history).
- Push notification providers — receive your push token and notification payload to deliver notifications to your device.
- App store operators — distribute the app to your device and may receive crash diagnostics and device-identifier data through their standard developer tools.
We may also share information when required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Golden Egg Media, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
6. Use of your data for model training and improvement
green glass is an AI-powered service. To make our recommendations better over time, we may use the information you provide — including your taste profile, wine history, ratings, transcribed wine list text, and your feedback on our recommendations — to develop, train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine-learning models that power and improve our wine recommendation features.
This training may benefit recommendations for all users, not only the user who contributed the data. Wine list photos themselves are not retained or used for training; only the transcribed text and the resulting recommendations may be used. We take reasonable steps to remove direct identifiers from data used for model improvement.
Trained models incorporate patterns learned from many users' inputs. If you delete your account, residual learnings already incorporated into trained models cannot be reversed out of those models — this is a standard limitation of machine-learning systems.
7. Google API user data — Limited Use disclosure
If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address, your Google display name, and (if you grant it) your profile photo URL. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Google user data:
- is used only to provide and improve user-facing features of green glass (signing you in, displaying your profile inside the app);
- is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve those features, or to comply with applicable law, and only with your consent or to a service provider acting on our behalf;
- is not used or transferred for serving advertisements;
- is not read by humans except (a) with your affirmative agreement, (b) to investigate abuse or comply with applicable law, or (c) where the data has been aggregated and is used for internal operations.
8. International transfers
Golden Egg Media LLC is based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States. Where required, our service providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
9. How long we keep your information
- Account, profile, cellar, friends, and recommendation history. Kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, this data is removed from our active systems immediately (see Section 11).
- Wine list photos. Not retained on our servers. They are sent to the AI processing provider and discarded after processing. The AI processing provider's standard API retention windows (typically 30 days or less) may apply during processing.
- Transcribed wine list text and recommendations. Kept with your activity history while your account is active, and may be retained in de-identified or aggregated form for model improvement after deletion (see Section 6).
- Server logs and diagnostic data. Kept for a limited operational window (typically 30–90 days), then deleted, except where we need to keep them longer to investigate security incidents.
- Records we are legally required to keep. Retained for the period required by applicable law.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS / TLS encryption in transit, server-side validation of authentication tokens, access controls on production systems, and least-privilege principles. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at green.glass@goldenegg.media.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete your personal information;
- export your information in a portable format;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account directly inside the app: open Profile → Delete My Account, then confirm in both prompts. Account deletion is immediate; we remove your account record, taste profile, cellar, friends, friend requests, push tokens, scan history, and recommendation history from our active systems, and we revoke your authentication credentials so the account cannot be re-accessed. As described in Section 6, residual learnings already incorporated into trained models are not reversible.
If you cannot access the in-app deletion flow, email us at green.glass@goldenegg.media from your account email and we will delete your account on your behalf.
To exercise any other right, email us at the address above. We will verify your identity (typically by confirming you control the account email or phone number) and respond within the time required by applicable law.
12. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, including the rights to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Categories of personal information we collect (per CCPA): identifiers (email, phone, account ID, push token); customer records (display name, profile photo URL); commercial information (your saved wines and activity); internet/network activity (basic server logs); inferences drawn from the above (your taste profile and recommendations).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising within the meaning of the CCPA / CPRA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
California residents can exercise CCPA rights by emailing green.glass@goldenegg.media.
13. Children
green glass is intended for users who are 17 years of age or older and of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not direct the Service to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 17, we will delete the account and the associated information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at green.glass@goldenegg.media.
14. Push notifications
Push notifications are opt-in. You can disable them at any time in your device's notification settings, which will stop us from delivering further notifications to that device. Disabling notifications does not delete your account.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, for material changes, we will provide additional notice (for example, by an in-app notice or by emailing the address associated with your account). Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
